deVOL kitchens come to Bath

deVol has been a renowned design led furniture manufacturer for over 30 years and recently opened a new show room on George Street in Bath.

deVOL was founded in 1989 by two design graduates, Philip deVries and Paul O’Leary – the name deVOL is an amalgamation of their initials! The pair started in business together renovating antique furniture and making bespoke pieces for clients, but very quickly they became well-known for their beautiful freestanding kitchen furniture. Nowadays deVOL is one of Britain’s best known kitchen companies and make kitchens, lights, tiles and handles alongside a unique collection of other home accessories.

The new showroom in Bath is in George Street where they have renovated a classic corner shop. The team at deVOL had always wanted to open a showroom in Bath and were delighted when they discovered this Georgian beauty. Built circa 1776, it’s Grade II listed and has incredible original features, high ceilings, huge windows and ornate covings. They have renovated these beautiful old rooms and turned each one into an atmospheric kitchen where you can immerse yourself in deVOL. Outside the shop is painted a gorgeous Royal Blue shade with a hand-painted gold sign.

The building has “the perfect look and proportions to display deVOL furniture at its very best,” says Helen Parker, the company’s creative director.

There are a small team of kitchen designers in the showroom to offer a personal and creative service.

The building is listed so deVOL have focused on the Classic English, Heirloom and Shaker ranges to ensure that the displays feel authentic and in keeping with their surroundings. Each room flows into another to give the whole showroom a wonderful feeling of being in a real house. The carefully chosen accessories and wonderful light makes visiting a joyous experience.

Here are some of the wonderful rooms.

The big prep table welcomes you when you open the door into the first room of the showroom.

The display of pink and blue plates is artfully random and much photographed. The rich purple and pretty green work wonderfully together too.

I love the gorgeous pink walls, the bistro table and chairs, and the café curtains in this room. deVOL sell the fittings for café curtains.

The tongue and grove panelling painted in a stunning green and the artful display of plates really makes this room.

Colour drenching in this pea green colour gives this room a very elegant, yet dramatic look.

I love this burnished batterie de cuisine and the wonderful brass saucepans – they give wonderful French vibes in this gorgeous, yet practical kitchen.

The pot filler fixed to a tiled wall gives a wonderful vintage look to the room.

This photo of the team at deVOL, Robin, Helen and Paul, sitting on the steps of the new showroom says it all! They say: “we hope when you step inside this showroom you will be transported to a calm and beautiful place. It’s magic how atmospheric interiors have this ability.”
