Nothing beats a good old bricks and mortar shop, but the list below comes close. I’ve selected a few of my favourite online shops and compiled them here for you today. This list is by no means exhaustive (I could go on for some time), but these are shops that really get it right. Good design, easy navigation and a great selection of products are just a few of the reasons why. Let’s get started, shall we?

Designer’s Guild

Established in 1970, Designer’s Guild was a bricks and mortar shop long before the internet came along. It was founded by designer Tricia Guild and offers a vast collection of fabrics, wallcoverings, paint, furniture and more.

The website is an inspiring palette of colour and pattern and the products are unique and of a very high quality. A design-lover’s haven!

The Conran Shop

Founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1974, The Conran Shop is another pre-internet marvel (proving that good design really does stand the test of time). A luxury retailer, The Conran Shop offers furniture, lighting and home accessories from some of the most iconic designers from around the world.

Pinch

Award-winning Pinch is the collaboration between husband and wife team, Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon. More studio and showroom than traditional ‘retailer’, all products are designed and made in-house.

Rockett St George

A kitchen table business that grew into something much bigger, Rockett St George is a solely online retailer. Founded by two friends who live and breathe homewares, their buying philosophy is simple; they both have to love it. The result is a delightfully eclectic (and sometimes eccentric) range of goods that is a genuine joy to sift through.

Bert & May

Bert & May began with a love of tiles. Falling for traditional encaustic tile while renovating a boutique hotel in Andalucia, founder Lee Thornley discovered an out of use tile-making studio in the foothills of the Sierra de Cadiz and brought it back to life.

Now, Bert & May specialise in making modern tiles the traditional way and salvaging vintage tiles from derelict buildings around the world. The company has recently expanded to include a selection of pre-fab buildings, all beautifully designed using reclaimed materials.
