Drawing room and study of a Georgian town house project

Drawing Room

The first floor of this Georgian town house project is dedicated to a drawing room space for entertaining and a study to work quietly in, at the back of the house.

The drawing room at the front of the house is a room dedicated to entertainment.

After laying a reclaimed wood floor, the room was painted In Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball. This timeless, deep and dramatic blue has green undertones and works well in any size room. The ceilings, windows, cornices and rose were painted in School House White.

The sofas, rug, and coffee tables were pieces from Roche Bobois. We also added an antique brass and glass Soho Cinema side table from Soho Home with a Noah buttoned armchairs in Artisan Weave in Sourdough from Love Your Home.

The wall lights and chandelier were from by Tigermoth Lighting and the picture light from Circa Lighting. The Skylar floor lamp is by Castro Lighting by Olson & Baker – a stunning glass and brass statement piece that sits beside the bespoke DJ sideboard made by John Jacques of Radiance Furniture, was designed by John Jacques and Clair Strong Interior Design.

Above the DJ sideboard sit a set of 12 mirrors in antiqued mirror glass from The Looking Glass of Bath.

Alcoves either side of the fireplace were made into two drinks cabinets. We commissioned a bespoke piece of artwork from Catarina Diaz, a Portuguese artist based in London.

Study

The study was painted in a combination of neutrals from Farrow and Ball – Bone, Shadow White and School House White.

We used the clients existing leopard skin rug and lacquered cabinets.

The desk is the Eden Rock desk in dark cherry from Roche Bobois. Designed by Sacha Lakic, the desk mixes references to Louis XVI style and post-war American industrial design. The top is upholstered in a gold faux leather and conceals a storage drawer, while the detailing in brushed brass elegantly highlights the lines of this piece.

We added a classic Eames Lobby Chair in chocolate leather. The armchair was originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1960 to furnish lobby areas in New York’s Time Life Building.

The Bert Frank Glaive desk lamp is inspired by the glamour of the 1930’s. The geometric form of the fine bone china washes its surroundings with its warm light when it is turned on.

The first floor’s elegant rooms with high ceilings and large undressed windows now provide this client with a glamorous yet functional space.
