It\u2019s the most wonderful time of the year, steeped in tradition and history. I love a real pine Christmas tree and twinkly lights as much as the next person, but I also love bringing a touch of modernity to the proceedings. This year it\u2019s out with tinsel and glittery baubles and in with geometric shapes and chic minimalism. Here are my top tips for modern Christmas decorating:<\/p>\n
A (Black and) White Christmas<\/strong><\/p>\n Black and white is an elegant combination at any time of the year. It\u2019s a surprisingly festive scheme, perhaps because it gives a nod to classic Scandinavian style (and we all know how well they do Christmas). Add a few metallic elements for that much-needed sparkle and have yourself a very stylish Christmas indeed.<\/p>\n DIY Paper Ornaments<\/strong><\/p>\n Printable paper ornaments are all over the design blogs at the moment but my all-time favourites are these by Kate at MINIECO<\/a>. I love everything about them; the colour scheme, the sharp geometric shapes and the fact that they\u2019re inspired by good old British weather. These would look great hung on the tree or used to create a mobile\/chandelier of some kind. I\u2019ll let you decide what you\u2019d do with them!<\/p>\n Alternative Christmas Trees<\/strong><\/p>\n Whether you simply the lack the space for a full-sized tree or you just fancy trying something different this year, there are now hundreds of alternative options for your tree.
