If you don\u2019t want to commit to completely redecorating a room for the summer, think about introducing summery shades in your choice of accessories. You can\u2019t go wrong if you think about ice cream shades.  A pretty coral throw, some sage linen cushions or a blue and white floral rug will give those summery vibes without a big investment. My tip is to spend on big things in your home like sofas, mattresses and dining room furniture, but save on accessories which might only last a season.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reupholster, repaint, revamp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Repainting old heirloom furniture or an eBay find is a sure way to transform the look of a room. I love the trend for larders in the kitchen, but they can be expensive. Search for a French linen press on eBay, give it a couple of coats of chalk paint and you\u2019ve got yourself the look for less. Upholstering tired furniture can also make it more summer ready. An old chair upholstered in a few metres of designer fabric will completely change the look and is a fun project to do over the summer evenings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bring the greenery inside<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Summer is the time for indoor gardening and bringing the outside in. Fill your home with large leafy plants and easy-to-look-after succulents to freshen your indoor air and bring the calm of nature indoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t forget about the simple joy of a bunch of flowers! It\u2019s such an easyway to add summer colour, texture and scent to a room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bNatural materials are on trend in our homes and are always a good choice in summer. They\u2019re durable, environmentally friendly, and look stylish. Whatever your interior design style, there is a natural material that will look amazing. Rattan and wicker used to be a material you would only see in baskets, but nowadays they are so on trend, there are stylish rattan and wicker pieces everywhere to give you that 1970s bohemian style. Popular for the laid back Scandi vibe, mix rattan and wicker with white walls and bright accessories for a modern contemporary look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the height of summer, when things get really warm and sticky, the last thing you want is a home that makes you feel even warmer. Thick pile rugs have no place in a summer home. If you have wooden floorboards, remove the rugs altogether. If you do need some kind of floor covering, opt for a beautiful Kilim or flat cotton rug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
