So you\u2019re\nthinking about selling your home? I imagine you already know you\u2019ll need to put\nsome work in to get the place ready for viewings. But did you know there are\nspecific design-focused things you can do that may help your home sell quicker?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impress right out of\nthe gate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First impressions matter, so think about the very first\nthing potential buyers will see. Is it an overgrown garden, a paint-chipped\nfront door, broken fence panels or a rusting gate? The front garden and fa\u00e7ade\nof your house is just as important<\/strong>\nas the inside. If you answered yes to any of the above, it\u2019s time to spruce it\nup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make repairs, de-weed and mow the front garden, clean the\nwindows and repaint the front door if necessary. For extra points you could\nreplace the door number with something really stylish and put out some plants\nin big pots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, don\u2019t park in the driveway on viewing days. Let\npotential buyers get a full view of the house and imagine their own car there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fresh coat of paint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might seem ludicrous to spend time painting a house\nyou\u2019re planning to move out of, but it will help you sell. A fresh coat of\nneutral paint will brighten the space up, making it seem bigger and brighter to\nboot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While you\u2019re in DIY mode, you might also want to clean or\nre-grout dirty tiling, replace kitchen cupboard handles and update any dusty,\ndiscoloured lampshades. Swap heavy curtains out for light voiles and replace\nworn out rugs with soft new ones. You can take any new accessories you buy with\nyou, so this isn\u2019t a wasted investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create the dream<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

People are always looking for their dream homes so help them\nsee the lifestyle they could lead in yours. Create the dream!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a large open-plan space perfect for socialising,\nmake a feature of it. Set the table, create a cocktail bar, and maybe add some\nfairy lights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your home is small and cosy (and it\u2019s the right time of\nyear for it) add soft blankets, heaps of candles, and some autumnal\ndecorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have lots and lots of books? Tidy the shelves, add a\ncomfy chair and a lamp, and create an inviting reading nook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
