If you\u2019re one of the 1.54 million people<\/a>\nworking from home in the UK, you\u2019ll know how important your work space is. A\nwell-designed home office helps aid concentration, motivation and productivity.\nIt can even benefit your health and wellbeing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re new to home working or just looking to update your\nwork space, there are a few things you definitely need. In this two-part blog\npost, I\u2019m sharing my essentials for a happy and healthy home office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can work from the sofa, or even\nfrom the bed<\/a>, but there\u2019s a good chance you won\u2019t be nearly as industrious\nas you would be at a desk.  A desk gives\nyou that dedicated space to sit down and just work<\/em>. Once you\u2019re there, distractions are limited. And of course,\nif you choose the right desk for you it will be more comfortable and kinder to\nyour posture over time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Made.com offers a great selection of stylish but practical desks. The mid century style Glenn desk (pictured above) is one of my favourites because it packs a serious amount of storage into a fairly compact space. Oh, and obviously it is very good looking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Office Chair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there\u2019s one piece of home office furniture more important\nthan the desk, it\u2019s the right chair. It can be really difficult to find an\noffice chair that is comfortable for extended periods and<\/em> aesthetically pleasing. I can\u2019t personally vouch for the Brooks\nvelvet office chair\u2019s comfort, but it certainly nails the design side of\nthings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re really serious about the health of your back,\nconsider an ergonomic chair. While some ergonomic chairs wouldn\u2019t look out of\nplace on the Starship Enterprise, others are surprisingly attractive. You can\nchoose from a wide range of styles to really find one that suits you \u2013 in every\nsense of the word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
