Kitchen design has come a long way over the past few years; it might even be one of the fastest moving areas of interior design. Here I\u2019ve gathered just a handful of the most exciting kitchen trends taking 2017 by storm.<\/p>\n

The latest kitchen design trends favour natural stone like quartz, marble and granite over cheaper synthetic worktops. Composite stone is especially popular because it comes in a wide variety of colours and is very hard-wearing.<\/p>\n

Stone worktops look and feel very luxurious, and they pair beautifully with wooden cabinets for a striking juxtaposition.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve probably seen painted kitchen cabinets all over Pinterest and Instagram, it\u2019s a trend that took hold just a few years ago but it\u2019s already evolving…<\/p>\n

Now, we\u2019re seeing a mix-and-match look where wall cabinets are painted in one colour and base units in another. You can be really creative here, giving your kitchen a custom look without spending thousands of pounds on bespoke carpentry.<\/p>\n

The industrial trend is nothing new, but I\u2019m definitely seeing more of it in kitchen design this year. This is a really utilitarian look that focuses on functionality. Think concrete floors, exposed pipes, chunky stone worktops, and steel framed shelving. Everything is designed to be durable and low-maintenance, as is practical in a kitchen.<\/p>\n

Industrial elements are often paired with traditional Shaker style units (as pictured above). This provides a nice balance for the space and keeps it from becoming overwhelmingly \u2018themed\u2019.<\/p>\n

More is definitely more with this trend. There\u2019s a growing love for patterned tiles in both the kitchen and bathroom. It\u2019s a great way to have a bit of fun in a space that doesn\u2019t often call for lots of accessories.<\/p>\n

The best thing about this particular trend is that you can create all sorts of different looks with it. You can achieve the boho kitchen of your dreams, create a cool retro vibe, or add a bit of flair to a simple Scandinavian space.<\/p>\n
