According to Pantone it’s a “refreshing and revitalizing shade…symbolic of new beginnings. [It] evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.

It’s quite the departure from 2016’s colours of the moment, the ethereal and delicate Rose Quartz and Serenity, or 2015’s rich and sophisticated Marsala. Greenery is bold and brash and may seem difficult to style in an interior setting but it’s not impossible. Here are some ideas:

Accent Walls

As ever, the accent wall saves the day. Accent walls give you that burst of colour without overwhelming the space and you save money and time versus painting/wallpapering the whole room.

It’s a risk-free way to try out a bold new colour, especially with a green as bright as this. One wall will feel plenty.

Some great paint and wallpaper options in Pantone’s colour of the year include the pictured wallpaper by Little Greene, Dulux’s Enchanted Eden paint and Garden City, a paint by Fired Earth.

Accessories

Cushions, throws, photo frames, vases, plants – there are potentially hundreds of ways to accessorise with colour. The benefit of accessories being that you can be as heavy – or light – handed as you like. But remember, sometimes less is more and just a few hints of your desired hue here and there can be really effective.

Colour Combinations

Greenery is a surprisingly versatile colour. You can create all kinds of looks, simply by pairing it with a few other hues.

For a zesty, summery vibe team it with more bright colours like orange and yellow. A neutral backdrop of white or grey keeps this look grounded and ‘grown up’.

When paired with brown and cream, Greenery becomes a really cool, retro hue. Ideal for making all your mid-century dreams come true.

Jewel tones like berry and deep purple add a moody edge to this verdant green. Throw in a smoky grey to round the look out.

For a natural, earthy look marry this green with charcoal, navy or a deep bronzy brown and add metallic elements to give it a luxe look.

As most of you will already know, Pantone recently announced their colour of the year for 2017. “Greenery” is a very bright, yellow-green shade.
